That would be amazing and is in fact quite likely.

All the recent Nikon releases have been out of this world good. Be it the 70-200 f2.8E, the 19mm T/S,... and of course the 105mm f1.4 that is already lengendary.

I'd be over the moon excited if this is true! I have the 20/1.8, (had the 24/1.4G) 28/1.8 and 35/1.4, but a 28/1.4 has been a dream for a while now. I know the AF-D is pretty awesome, but it's just too pricey for how much I shoot 28mm.

It'll be kind of a tough call, the 28/1.8G is really a great lens, at a great price. But ... 1.4...

I remember when 24mm f/1.4G and 85mm f/1.4G were announced in 2010, pricing was similar.

Not surprising. Couldn't see how it would be cheaper. Nano + E + 1.4. Like all 1.4s, not a volume seller so price has to compensate.

Man, $2100? I know it will be amazing but it's like they are begging Sigma into the market with that price. I realize the differences but that is a lot to ask for anyone but guys making a living at this.

Max, 1.4 is for those who need it, or as you said working pros. For everyone else there are the 1.8's. I believe Nikon offers options for all photographers, 1.8 for price conscious, 1.4 for those who don't mind paying for it.

If it's the same quality as the 105E I'll swap my 24/1.4G for this one.

If it's as good as we are all hoping it would be, I would love to swap my 24 1.4G and 35 1.4G with this, and go with 20-28-58-105 combo. The only trouble is it's very difficult to get a fair price when selling used gear where I live

The 28 1.8G is tough to beat. Not sure if this lens is $1700 better, lol

It would have to be spectacular to get me thinking about switching it in for the 24 1.4. Love that lens!

What bugs me the most is the fact that I have to sell my 24 mm and 35 mm to pay for this 28 mm.
But of course, if I buy this 28 mm it will replace both 24 and 35.

Sometimes I hate Nikon.

Funny thing is, I already went through this route... had 28, then sold it for 20/35 then sold those for a 24-70, than sold that for 24/35

Looks like the design is a double Gauss with a wide converter in front of it. Fuji did the same with their 23/1.4.
