Never shut down though. I honestly think this warning Sony set it too low.

Ken did it feel warm

It didn't shut down thankfully since it was during the ceremony. And yes the camera did feel warm.

Good thing I still have one of my A7RII's and I'll have to keep it ready just in case for those situations.

Anyone try the A9 with and without Sony's new fast cards? SAR reported a reader that tried with and without the new cards and surmised problem may be the slower cards and buffer overheating from not clearing fast and efficiently. I have felt UHS-II get very hot to the touch before, could be plausible?

I'm using a Lexar 1000 150r/w card in Slot 2 and the Lexar 2000 300r/w n slot 1. I have not seen any issues yet.

Essentially I have th fastest cards given the slot capability. Shooting jpeg to slot 2 and uncompressed raw to slot 1

That could be but mine overheated without using much of any of the buffer.

Looked up your cards. Write speeds frequently a little to a lot less than speed on the card, but looks like you and Guy are using 260 MB/s Write speeds. Sonys card is 299 MB/s so seems less likely.

Thanks

Hope not. The day before I also had a hot outdoor wedding with no issues. But not as hot as yesterday.

Sounds like the battery grip will be a solution just as it was on other Sony cameras.

Wonder if anyone that got a warning if they also got the same warning with a different battery. Also how many charging cycles are these batteries been through. Batteries take a few cycles to cure for lack of a better word.

I watched this one, but this one was kind of extreme, personally haven't had any issues with my A9 down here in San Diego

Sony released new firmware for the A9 that addresses the temperature warning indicator:

"This utility updates the camera firmware to version 1.01 and improves the overheating warning functionality."

Link is not working. I notified Sony support. They are aware of it as of now.

I downloaded and installed before it was removed. I contacted Sony support who said it was a server issue and the file would be available again soon. They reassured me that the upgrade will not cause problems. Let's hope! I will be testing in int 100f + temps later today.
