From Erickson Aircraft Collection, Madras Oregon. Restoration completed within last two months; gentleman from GB with more ME-109 hours than anyone else alive came over to test and certify the plane. Only other pilot has been Erickson CEO (so I'm told) for several hours.

Wish the hanger were not so crowded but still fun.

Great shots...when I was a kid, I lived across the street from Zahn's Airport. A local private pilot owned a Messerschmitt ME-109...that was one of the fastest planes at the airport and he used to fly the heck out of it!

Very nice set Bob. There's real art in the design of old planes, cars, etc.

Thanks all,

Glad you enjoy the images and back-story. I should have inquired how many (few) ME-109s are flight worthy today. The attendant did offer ME-109s were the "Most-produced fighter and single-seat aircraft. Also built in Hungary, Romania, Spain, Czechoslovakia and Switzerland."

Bob,

I love shooting planes!!! So many photographic opportunities if you look closely enough.

#5 ALL the way with those zigzags.

Great shots Bob, but those landing gear sure look unstable.

Thanks guys - a local physician and long time aviator has a plaque on the waiting room wall noting the most exciting portion of a flight is always the landing.

I'm certain the restoration and attention to detail are as accurate as possible - interesting the interior of the wheel wells had zippered, snapped-in canvas linings (with appropriate stenciled instructions auf Deutsch) I assume to seal and protect the wing structure yet provide access.

So too the wing sections of the carrier based aircraft - where the wings folded up for storage.
