The main reason I wasn't using the 600II is that I didn't bring it or want to lug it around. The other issue is that for some of these we were lying in the water with my elbows planted in the mud holding up the lens. The 600 would have been a bit heavy for that.

Good to see you didn't have that experience--a great collection of shorebirds all in breeding plumage. My favorites are the Red Knot and Dunlin. I'll look forward to seeing more.
