You're gonna like them or completely hate them!

First few from a little afternoon mess-around session the other day.

Feel free to hate, love or ignore.

# 3 for me also. Interesting direction you're taking.

Thanks for the picks, guys!

Do 1 and 2 not work or do you just prefer 3 more? I know 2 is more graphic and static, which might not play for most.

#2 as mentioned @ graphic / static
#1 @ lack of symmetry, level, uneven tonal values ... the par excellence is lacking on it a bit.

I do like 2 also but it leaves me wanting. I wonder what some pencil shavings sprinkled about from one of those cheap sharpeners would do for it? Or maybe some sprinkled sand or ground pepper? hmmmmmmmm

EDIT: I figured it out. You have the Yin without the Yang!

In regards to 1, the lack of symmetry was definitely intended! I did try a symmetrical comp but it was reaaaally uninteresting. I think throwing it off lets you look through the pic more. Could you go into a little more detail as to what you mean by uneven tonal values in as it applies to 1? I get the concept but I think I need a little direction to see whatcha mean with 1.

Thanks Kent!

That would have been pretty tough to capture, ha. All of these shots are of one of those fidget spinners held in front of my monitor open to a blank tab. What I like about 2 is that it's clean and static at first glance but if you look closer there are a lot of imperfections in play. Maybe a bit of a hidden yin and yang?

But all in all I think 2 has the least amount of appeal.

Thanks for your insight, Kev!

Love that you are presenting these.
I find all interesting, but unlike the others, #2 is a standout for me.
It's probably the least abstract and in someways therefor the most evocative.
For me, it evokes a head, a pose, a question, an attitude. One vibe is amusement.
I can imagine a range of titles.

Scott, I know you're not one to talk shop around here but I'm curious as to your thoughts on these spinners. I'm always playing with my wedding ring, cutlery, paper clips - anything to fiddle with. This spinner has been a nice little distraction that also helps me focus sometimes!

Thanks for the picture feedback! I'm only about a 1/3 through these - I'd say a lot more rough than diamonds, but it was fun snapping a test shot, observing the result and then tweaking accordingly trying to get it dialed in as you see fit. The journey can leave a lot by the wayside, but hopefully I come away with some fun ones. You'll def get some more of these to critique!

Interesting that you dig 2 the most! I can def see the figure/head that you're referring to - how would you feel about losing some off the left and playing that up? The only issue I can see is that we're approaching Playboy Bunny with its ears cut off.
