It is quite a norm to stop and shoot while driving around Iceland, especially. In my opinion, Iceland has full of places to do just that. Amazing country!

While I was going from Buðir black church in South shore to North shore in Snaefellsnes through a mountain pass, I found this location very attractive with lights, color, lava field, waterfalls in the distance and some very pretty volcano rocks around. Took wide angle shots including all of these.

Now I am presenting two images from a single shot, one with cropping and another without cropping. I would appreciate your opinion which one would be more pleasant.

Hey Kee,

That must be quite the joy to come across views like this as you drive. I have been scrolling back and forth, and I am not sure I can pick a favorite. I do like the deeper greens of the foreground in #2, but I like the little more intimate view of #2. I think both work.

Hello Jim,

Right.. you are absolutely right! I had so many occasions like that, driving back and forth, like some crazy nut, on the road.. However it is always worthwhile to do that rather than saying.. "Oh, I will shoot that later.. " which doesn't work that way!

Beautiful scene: wonderful color tonality/rendition/depth and well balanced contrast, and excellent composition, and moderate dynamic range

Another vote for 2, Kee. Well done on both. What a fun trip. I agree that "I'll get it later" seldom works with landscapes.

For my taste and based on its visual design I select No. 2.
Both are beautiful shots but the second one seems to be more appealing.

I prefer the second one Kee mainly because I like sharp foregrounds that lead to stunning backgrounds. Both pictures are beauties.

First one is an image of a nice landscape, second one is a strong image. So, number two wins hands down.

Thanks John & Seabassius for your input with feedback.

I think the original image, No. 2, will be chosen. The composition is better as I originally chose how to shoot!!
I may need to do some more post processing on this image. So.. please advise me with your ideas how to improve the image.

Like everyone else, #2 for me. The foreground is so beautiful, you don't want to lose that.
