President Trump just issued an executive order to review all National Monuments created after January 1st, 1996 and over 100,000 acres. This includes favorite places for FM landscape photographers. The government reviews are meant to determine if the National Monument status of each place should be downgraded or eliminated to favor development. To help inform this process, please use your photos to show the public and politicians what is at stake in these designated monuments. In the title and text, please include the name of the place, including "National Monument" so search engines can find your post. Lists of some of the affected monuments are posted online.

I'll start with few more photos of the Carrizo Plain National Monument.

To add to the Carrizo Plain support, here are a few pictures from previous years to show that this is often a wonderful place for wildflower displays.

Thanks very much Art. You found areas of so much more diversity in past years. I'm guessing, but it looks like a lot more tidy tips, lupines, poppies, owl's clover, etc., than this year--nice to go back and find something new.

it is sickening how this even got this far - and being in the cross hairs here in Utah...

anyways, here is one from a few years ago - White Pocket -Vermillion Cliffs NM.
second one is from Coyote Buttes South

Can't believe this thread hasn't gotten more traction - although most people don't want to get "political", but this affects not just photographers; or hikers, or backpackers - but hunters, MTBers, fisherman, OHVers, etc

Thanks very much Dustin. Clearly, these are among the most beautiful and photogenic National Monuments at risk for downgrading or elimination per President Trump's Executive Order.

Very nice images. Thanks very much for turning me onto the Wupatki National Monument, a place I'd never known about until now. So, I had to Google it to get more info. I was already planning to explore this part of Arizona in the monsoon season, and now I have another specific destination to include. I was gratified to see the efforts of the NPS to protect the cultural structures there even though it means the necessity of managing access to parts of it. This emphasizes the importance of maintaining its National Monument status to protect the site's heritage against vandals, looters, and inadvertent damage by unescorted visitors--lessons learned the hard way in California.
