Took this photo in a garden. Any comments and suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance.

Very colorful. Beautiful reflections with great sharpness in that uber-still water.
Feels slightly tilted CCW, although often hard to know with uneven shorelines and angle of the building.
I would consider cropping from the right to just inside that bright tree.

I see you signed onto FM a while back. How did you decide to frequent Critique and post now?

Thank you, Scott, for such useful advice. I am new to this forum. After reading comments and suggestions made by subscribers for others' images, I found they were very useful for beginners like me. I recently bought a camera (Sony a7Rii) and a lens (24-27mm, f2.8) here. they are great!

By the way, what CCW stands for?

John

Great shot! I would love to see more blue in the sky but I think it is because the colors are so powerful in the mid section of the photo that it seems a shame not to have a Hawaii Nei type saturation up there. That crop idea is a good one to try and leveling out the structure too. What do you have for software?

Oh and please take any of my mentions as those of someone who is quite new at this. Meaning... I could be way off and am hoping to learn more myself!

Welcome to FM! Glad you've decided to start posting as this place is pretty awesome for learning and growing.

Off the top it seems that the scene, while nice and sharp, looks to be underexposed. I'm not sure if you were shooting RAW (hopefully!!), but if you were then you might be able to bring up the shadows while still keeping highlights under control. Another option would be to bracket your exposures so you blend them and "create" your optimal exposure overall.

As processed, saturation and contrast might be a bit on the heavy side.

Keep it up!!

Jeff

.edit On the home monitor the exposure is still under, but IMO not as bad as on the dumb work. Still a bit heavy on contrast but saturation looks okay!

Excellent just the way it is!

BTW: The closest corner-post of the tea house is vertical in case of any doubt.
