I'm sorry you were disappointed with the churches you visited. I sure hope you had a good time while you were there. Perhaps you will get another chance to visit Italy as there are many fine places to photograph. It sounds like you need a new bag to keep that tripod from slipping out unexpectedly.

Now how about some pics for us to look at from your trip.

I plan to visit Italy again
When I've processed the photos (which will probably take a few weeks), I'll post a link to them.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment. Not surprising that construction and repairs often spoil the shots.

Yeah, cranes and scaffolds were all over in Rome and Florence. I can kind of look past some of the cranes in my skyline shots and they are almost but not quite unnoticed in "night" shots but scaffolding is going to be a problem. They had chairs out in St. Peters Square for an audience the next day. I wanted to ask them to move them but decided that we'd just have to look around them.

I've just finished processing my photos.
Here's two favourite interior shots and the link to see more.

Thanks for taking the time to post a couple of images here and for providing a link to the images from your trip. I enjoyed viewing them and it brought back some memories from last May. Do you recall from what vantage point you took the images looking down at the Duomo and the city? By the way, excellent images.

Thank you very much and thanks for looking

They were taken from the Palazzo Vecchio Tower.

Additional info for anyone else visiting Florence:
Views are a bit limited from the top, you're now allowed near the edge, as it's roped off.
Plus the walls are high, so you can't really look down much.
And you're asked to leave at sunset.
Tripods and large bags aren't allowed.
One level down from the open air level, is a walkway around the top of the tower.
But, the vertical bars on the "windows" are too small to get a large lens through (i.e. Canon 24-70 II f2.8).
