Hey it's Friday! FM'er should be happy about that. More time for weekend pictures.
I've got a photo to share and love to get feedback: positive, negative, or neutral. I wandered into Hellhole canyon this month during a light rain and found this gorgeous purple blooming tree. I made it the subject of my photos this day and hoped it might be good enough to share here.

4. Wider area shot of canyon. You can see this purple tree is the only one there. It was quite a surprise to discover.

Nice imaging Gordon. What a nice location, wherever that is. That's an unusual color for these classic red sand canyon areas and makes for a wonderful color palette.

Beautiful image. You know, I'm from the south and it's hard to tell, but that thing looks like a redbud tree. I've only seen them in the south, southeast though. I think it may be lost.

yup, looks like it might be a western redbud....you picked a nice day to hit the hellhole....

I've tried to get a "wall hanger" Redbud shot every spring w/o success. I really like the first, Gordon. Well done.

These are beautiful, the purple is so unexpected and adds a nice color contrast to the redder rocks.

Thanks Jeff. I thought this was highly unusual color for this area too. It really surprised me so I spent the majority of time shooting it from different perspectives.

Thanks to those smart than I am. I didn't know what type of plant/tree/bush this is: Western redbud. Thank you for sharing this information with me. I'll now know these when I see them again.

Thanks to Don, kmunroe and douter! These colors really surprised me. Just seeing the green spring growth on the trees is pretty wonderful but these purple blossoms stopped me in my tracks.
