I didn't feel like risking bringing my D750s or heavy sigma glass, so I got this little combo so I could go everywhere. I'll be updating this thread with more photos.

Here's one of my lady, relatively close.

I know the tech has far surpassed the D700, but I have to say, I think it's still a damn impressive camera. Beautiful colors, texture, DOF and skin tone out of that combo too. Enjoy your vacation and post more photos when you get home!

This D700 owner agrees wholeheartedly! Show us more when you have the chance.

My D700 still gets as much use as my D610.

D750 sensor in a D700 style body, why they never did it I don't know...

Another thing that really impressed me is the D700's dynamic range. I didn't know these older Nikon sensors were capable of it. It far surpasses anything my 5D3 could do back in my Canon days.

I really like the first shot. The second's background is too distracting for me.

However, the D700 and 5D3's dynamic range is not that significantly different. You may not have been exposing correctly when you were shooting Canon. Also, if you tack on Magic Lantern with DualISO, you got dynamic range similar to that of the Sony sensors but in a 10 year old Canon.

Nice photos samples, but 2nd photo looks like it was shot with a longer lens, background is compressed substantially.

Interesting. What did you think about the Yongnuo 35mm f/2? I was thinking about getting one. How does it compare to Nikon's 35 f/2?

Nope, I was exposing correctly. The 5d3 was shameful IMO, in terms of its dynamic range capabilities. I could never truly "save" a shot like I can with my D750s.

As a working professional, third party software overlays like Magic Lantern aren't something I want to risk playing around with. I don't want to miss someone's first kiss because of buggy software.

Nope, still the Yongnuo. I was maybe 2 feet or so away from her.

Surprisingly great. I had the f/2D for a while as my beater lens, but this is just as good for 1/3rd of the price. The closer shot was wide open at f/2.

My flickr if you want to pixel-peep. I know I'd want to: https://www.flickr.com/photos/117279548@N08/

So does this D700 owner. There's something pure "photographic" about both the D700 and its output.
