Are you are being sarcastic? It's hard to tell.

I will offer that, since this is a forum dedicated to discussing gear for making photographs, and as this thread has inspired talented photographers to post actual photographs made with said gear, many will find it both appropriate for the context and relevant to photography.

Just compare the way the sagittal and meridonal MTF curves do diverge towards the edge of the frame - or rather how they do not diverge on the Canon 135L. There is a direct correlation between this property of the MTF chart and the bokeh...

Yup ... the Siggy has higher mtf, but not as tight between the sag & mer. The tighter the better. Not a terribly drastic difference here (compared to some that fall apart), but about as much diff in MFT toward Siggy as there is diff in sag & mer toward Canon.

As with so many things in optics, there are diametrically opposing attributes where you are trading one thing for another, so it comes down to a preference for the differences ... moreover, than claiming a superiority of "better", when you realize the inherent trade-offs that are in play.

The real take away here though (imo) ... nice to see Siggy get in the game of better optics than their legacy of yore has been.

At 135mm it's an embarrassment of riches. You can't go too wrong with any of the major brands, and the prices are mostly reasonable.

They both desperately need image stabilization.

Fred's pal Roger Cicala has MTFed it side by side with the Siggy 135/1.8:

What Is that a joke or mistake? Comparing the Canon 135/2 vs. Sigma 135/1.8 is a perfectly appropriate post for this forum.

It's either (misplaced) sarcasm or soft trolling.

Well, I wrote the article that started all this, and I still own my Canon 135mm f/2.0, too.

Some people are getting their knickers in a bunch over something that was clearly an example of tongue in cheek humour from the get go.
