Hi folks. Hoping for a bit of feedback here. I recently received a Tokina AT-X Pro 28-70mm from an Ebay seller.
I was eager to try it out but noticed right away that things weren't right with the lens. Every shot at 2.8 was a mess...smeary, lots of ghosting. Contacted the seller and was told...quote-
"I know this effect and it's has been described/documented elsewhere by other, ex. kenrockwell.com said that ''blurry at f/2.8, much better at f/4, and optimum by f/8"
Tell me this is not how this lens is intended to work...He agreed to a return/refund but only if it didn't affect his feedback
Image at 1:1 center, 70mm f4 (that's a rock in the yard in case you are wondering)
63mm 2.8 - Birch tree
And stopped down- 70mm f14
I am expecting to get my money back once it goes through the resolution center but figured I'd see what folks have to say first.
