There is quite a jump between the 75mm and the 300mm. I know there are some zooms that cover this range, but I sure hope we'll see another prime or two fill this gap.

I'm just curious what the desire would be for Olympus' next telephoto prime - focal length, speed and size-wise.

Personally, I'd love to see a compact 150mm f2.8, but with Sync IS at a cheaper price, rather than something like an f1.8 or f2, but Oly's recent releases make me think they'll go for faster and pricier. Also the long end of the 40-150mm hits this range, but I think a prime could be smaller, lighter and potentially sharper.

I've been hoping for a 200mm 2.8 for a while, just don't know how Olympus would price it.

Would also love to see a 90mm f/2 macro lens for chasing bugs. Probably a pipe dream.

400mm at f4 or f5.6 with OIS i.e. Sync-IS. Or a 200-500 zoom!

100 f1.8 would be ideal; give me that and then a small 9 or 10mm f2.8 and I'm golden

I'm loving my recently acquired Nikon 200mm f/2, but it's too big and heavy for me to hand hold, so a much smaller and lighter m4/3 equivalent would be a dream. I wonder how big a 100 f/1 would be?

If you want a 150 2.8 for M4/3, just use one of the Sigma 150 2.8 APO lenses with either Metabones or Kipon non focal reducer smart adapters.

The latest has stabilization.

I have the older non stabilized version and use it with a GX7 and Kipon adapter.

AF is fast (AFS only with my combination). Great macro lens that doubles as a telephoto.

I'm using the excellent Samyang 135mm f/2 until there's a native m4/3 150mm prime available. The Samyang is MF only, but is very sharp even wide open and with nice rendering.

At 815g in F-mount it's rather heavy, but it is a full frame lens after all, which I also use on my Nikon F6. It's a steal at $500.

The 4/3 Olympus ZD 150/2 lens is semi-native with full AF with the MMF3 adaptor:

It is, but second hand prices are still well above $1,000, it's twice as heavy and much larger than the Samyang and AF only works well with the E-M1 bodies (I'm using the GX8, G85 and the GM5). Still, I'm tempted

Absolutely. Unfortunately, the more than $3,000 that it would cost me is only 10-20% less than I paid for second hand but mostly mint:
GX8 + G85 (new) + Pana 12-35mm f/2.8 + Pana 35-100mm f/2.8 + Zuiko 75mm f/1.8 + Samyang 135mm f/2 (new)

I just purchased an old Canon FD 300mm f4 L with Canon 2X-A Teleconverter. It is entirely manual, but I am simply amazed at how easy it is to use! Focusing is a breeze! I also have the 4/3 mount Sigma 50-500 f4-6.3, which I have been using for quite a while now, and it is practically twice the size, fully automatic, and a lot harder to get good results with!

There is a fair amount of CA with the Canon and the teleconverter, but that can always be fixed in post. For 20% more reach and half the weight, I'll take it!

I take 95% of my pictures with a Canon 400/5.6 mounted on my E-M1 Mark II with a Metabones adapter. Plenty of examples here:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/42162009@N04/sets/
It can be painfully sharp! ;-)

Not super fast AF and only S-AF, but I can easily live with it. The AF is very accurate! That said, if Oly were to come out with a 400/4 prime I would really be tempted. But judging from the cost of the 300/4, which costs three times what my new Canon 400/5.6 cost, it would no doubt be totally unjustifiable.

Awesome capture! Beautifully composed and the background blur and color are simply amazing!

You should post this image in the Nature & Wildlife forum.

Or go with the 40-150/2.8 PRO ... and you can attach the MC-14 which will give you 210mm at f4.

As many posters have said, there are a number of telephoto primes that would be nice.

While I agree, I'm actually at least as interested in the wide angle range; 6, 8 and 10mm lenses of high quality and small size would be wonderful. There shouldn't be any problem in creating a great 8mm f/2.8 that's quite small.

There is the Laowa 7.5mm f2 rectilinear lens that is very compact. And Olympus has the 8mm f1.8 PRO lens but it's a fisheye. A 7mm f2 or f2.8 rectilinear lens would be awesome!

True.

Of curse you can also add a 1.4x or 2x extender from Canon or third parties to the 150 2.8 Sigma. I keep meaning to get a 1.4x to use with the Sigma 150 and a few other lenses.

A 100 f/1 would have the same 100mm front element as your 200/2 so it would be very close to the same size.
