I have both the XT2 and EM1 II. The Fuji has the 100-400 which is a pretty rocking telephoto lens. Do you think the Olympus 300 is better? I don't have the Oly 300 but for my uses the Fuji with the 100-400 has been pretty good and I don't think the Oly 300 is smaller.
Personally, I have often found 400mm to be too short for birds (on full frame or APS-C). I have the Canon 100-400LII that I use on the EM1 for slower birds (owls etc...) whereas the Canon 4005.6L focuses much faster. For my needs adapted Canon lenses that I already had work fine, and I have not yet purchased either the PL 100-400 or the Oly 300mm and cannot comment on those lenses. The "better" lens for birds and wildlife is a combination of flexibility, size, needed reach, and IQ. I find that a 200-800mm FOV is ideal for birds/wildlife. I suppose one could argue that there are smaller lenses than those that I am currently using (i.e. the PL 100-400 vs. the Canon 100-400), but after years of schlepping a Canon 500L around my current setup seems as light as a feather.
For me, the Fuji lens is too short and a step backwards to a time when I was shooting Canon with a 100-400L, and could not afford the 500L (read "could not convince my wife to spend money on that lens").
