p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · anyone here uses more than 1 camera system?

Hi
I don't know if this is the right forum to ask. I just want to get some opinions from people who own different camera systems. like Canon camera with nikon lenses or the other way around or with sony.... I have never used adapter with different lens, want to know pros and con.

Thanks for your input
Ken

Hi Ken,

Lots of people around here do that. It's one of the main topics on the Alternatives forum. A good place to start learning about this is the "Alt Lens FAQ" thread, at the top of the Alt forum.

There are a lot more camera systems around than just Nikon, Canon, and Sony!

Phase One XF and Cambo WRS 1600, both with IQ3 100 MFDBs
Canon 1Ds III
Sony A7r full spectrum
and a really cute Canon G9x

Just different tools in the shed...

because i want to know that people use adapter to join different camera and lenses, does it lose some functions or not as good as with the "natives" , like focusing speed, focus points.....and by how much, or it will work perfectly

Be prepared to gain something and lose something.

Lots of cross camera system users out there. And lots of adapters available, from the cheapo (but sometimes works) ones to the more expensive ones (mostly Sigma MC-11 and Metabones). And yes, they are not perfect and generally will not work as well as native lenses, e.g., Canon lenses on Canon cameras, Nikon lenses on Nikon cameras. Some people are quite happy with manual focus and slower focusing adapters, maybe because they do not shoot sports or birds in flight. Just do a Google search for camera adapters.

I have Sony E-mount, Fuji X and Micro 4/3 systems, but the Fuji and Sony gear is what gets the vast majority of my shooting. I use m4/3 mostly for macro and if I'm going to need serious reach.

My Fuji X-T20 (and X-E2...previously X-T1) gets used for a lot of people shooting, and a fair bit of everything else.

My Sony A7 II gets used for landscape and architecture shooting, and a fair bit of everything else.
