This woodlouse Philoscia muscorum looks as if it is about to try on the lower body garment of a white outfit.

In fact it it an adult which has moulted recently.

EM-1, Olympus 4/3 x2TC Olympus 4/3 50mm f2 macro, effective aperture f20, triple RC TTL flash, hand-held.

[Edit] Unable to use my Topaz plugins, I use Nik Collection Define2 and Nik Sharpener Pro 3: RAW Presharpener. I am not very practiced with the Nik software.

The use of my usual Topaz plugins has just been restored so I have added a second version of the image for comparison.[Edit ends]

Thanks, everyone.

It is not unusual to find these cast-offs* but I think this situation was as it looked. The woodlouse was positioned much like that when I first turned the wood over, before quickly replacing it, and was still there 2-3 minutes later, when I had returned with my camera.

I set up the second and third flash guns before turning the wood over for shots. It soon got irritated by my activity and walked away, seeking shade.

* They are very light and are blown away by the slightest air movement, as happened during further shots in the session. (To be posted).

I have added another version of the image, and a comment about the software used, to the original post.

Thanks,

Yes, I could have spent more time on the cloning. There is no cloning in the second topic featuring this subject, as it is very difficult to hide it in stereos.

Thanks. They seem to have a different name in every location.

The second is via my Topaz processing. Look out for some DxO-processed ones soon.

Let me know how you do with DXO. I've been curious about it.

I was not happy about how much noise their default setting left. So far, I cannot find a way to resize images, JPEGs being saved at the same size as the Raw files. I have to resize in PS but I need to remove noise (Topaz) there too.
