Another frame from my recent trip to costa rica with a wider perspective. Its amazing how the thought process changes as you mature as a photographer. Back in the days i used to shoot with a 300 and would do anything to get close to the subject. A bigger lens has changed it all. Now i try to stay as far as i can and show as much habitat as i can. Hope you like it.

Longer the lens wider the perspective!

I have also taken to Instagram lately and loving it there, follow me here for daily updates - https://www.instagram.com/supreet.sahoo

Beautifle image Supereet,

Environmental portrats are good yet it's' also good to get in close and so you have a mix

Primo shot, Supreet--I just love it! I'm with you on the habitat aspect. I like and will do the close-ups but far prefer to include a bigger context.

This is really a gorgeous shot; thanks for posting.

Nice photo Supreet.
I'm also a fan of showing habitat in images, or atleast give the animal in the frame some space or room as i call it. Question; how did you manage to battle the humidity/heat and bugs/insects that come with it. I want to go to costa rica as well but i'm no good match with high humidity. Wondering how others cope with it.

Wow, what a stunning image! That tiny bit of blue just caught my attention on the main page and I had to take a closer look.

Costa rica is a beautiful country but with it comes the weather. I usually opt for the dry months that start in Nov upto march and this helps keep the humidity at a manageable level, atleast for me. I have to mention here that i am originally from India and live in Louisiana so i have a higher tolerance to muggy weather

The bugs n insects is the easy one, bug sprays and lotions would go a long way to keep them away. If you have good contacts, know the right lodges and guides costa rica is one of the easiest and most fruitful countriesto visit to see rainforest birds.

Nicely done here. I find habitat shots much tougher and most of mine come out looking like crap.

Wow, love it. Red leg honey creeper is one of my favorites from my trip to Costa Rica. You have convinced me to try some wider angle shots. Bruce
