Some recent mixed bug shots. First 2 shots strong natural light taken at Highdown gardens Worthing with my Sony A6000/ sigma 105mm OS.
Last shots taken in my garden using full flash with my 5Dmk2/MPE-65/430Ex flash rig.
Most of the shots have been focus stacked using zerene.

Peacock butterfly

Nursery web spider

Parent bug shieldbug

Harlequin ladybird

7-spot ladybird

Ready for battle- a male Tephritid fly Chetostoma curvinerve. These have territorial shoving matches with other males a bit like sumo wrestling matches. The males lock those facial bristles on each other and then try to shove the other fly off the leaf..

Nice shots, Brian

Peacock means "business again" to me Here we are long way from business now. There are many snow spots and even dippers are still here.

Love that fly Brian.
On the harlequin ladybird pic I can see seven dots (top of the image, slightly right of center) is that focus stacked sensor dust?

Daniel.

Thanks for the comments Haja, Ron and Daniel - appreciated

Daniel - yes they are a focus stacked sensor spot - I didn't notice them in the dark area.

Brian,

An excellent set.

There is still almost no flying insect life here, apart from a few Bumble Bees. It looks like a record year for fruit blossom but the pollinators are missing, as they were last year.
