A Photo Story from Conowingo, March 6, 2017.

This juvenile Bald Eagle grabbed a large fish from the waters of the Susquehanna River, but would soon lose its one-taloned grip and drop the fish into the water. Conowingo Dam, Darlington, MD.

This adult Bald Eagle quickly took advantage of the youngster's mistake.

And brought the fish across the river.

Where it settled upon this branch to eat.

The story continues...

Another adult Bald Eagle soon brought a fish from the far East side of the river.

And initially decided that this would be a good place to dine.

But it later realized that this was too close to the river, and potential rivals, and flew from its initial perch.

And landed in this tree.

The conclusion...

And began to eat the catch.

Sensing an approaching foe, the Bald Eagle lets out a signature screech to ward off intruders.

But this Black Vulture ignored the warning, and encroached on the eagle and the prey.

And they shared the fish, with no further disputes.

Wonderful story and photos. So interesting that the black vulture got to share the meal.

. Great documentation of an interesting story. The ending was the best.

In Haines AK, I've seen a bald eagle, a magpie and a seagull all dining on a fish at the same time...but not in a tree.

Interesting series.

I went to Conowingo once and there were at least 1000 vultures in the trees by the parking lot. No exaggeration.

Thanks for sharing this series.

There were dozens of them there on this occasion, too.

Nicely done, wonderful images and story. How is the eagle action this this time of year?

Thanks. It was quite slow that morning. Only saw three eagles go fishing.
