If you go looking for it on line, look for Zerene, not Zener.

Thanks for the "concern".

I already have Zerene and I use Zoner. It was mixed up, but I am already familiar with both programs.

You are still mixed up if you think Zerene is a program.

Why is that? Zerene Stacker certainly is a program:

It is often used with hardware devices like the StackShot, but it's stand alone software. I've used it for several years to stack photos taken with manual rails or just moving the camera.

one alternative to the crazy expensive (but quality) StackShot and all other programs is the built in focus stacking in Panasonic camera bodies

I use the GX85 for most macro nowadays (despite have a ton of Nikon gear)....

I am stuck with Canon, as I have 4 bodies and 13 of their lenses. That seems like a great idea to incorporate into a camera body.

I think other manfs. will incorporate focus stacking in-body -- it is not as versatile as doing it in post but it is a LOT easier

Magic Lantern may be able to do something with it's custom firmware to get that done. They've already put intervalometer capability in my 3Ti and other Canon bodies. The current sensors are being slower to write code for than the earlier ones it seems, with ML.
