p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Minolta Rokkor "normal lens" shootout

I currently have four Minolta Rokkor 50-58 lenses that I wanted to test against each other.

This was a quick test done on a rainy Sunday. I hope to get a couple more tests (at different distances) done as well.

Tripod mounted Sony a7RII camera using a remote shutter release. ISO 100 on aperture priority with plus 2/3 of a stop exposure compensation to help with the bright background. I imported the RAW files into Lightroom where I gave all of the files the exact same basic exposure tweak. Then resized in Photoshop, saved as Jpegs with a slight for the web Unsharp Mask. I shot each lens wide open followed by f/2, f4 and finally f/8.

The Lenses:

Rokkor 58/1.2 PG
Rokkor 58/1.4 PF
Rokkor 55/1.7 PF
Rokkor 50/1.7 PF

And because I have them I added two 50/1.4 manual focus Pentax lenses.

I think I might do another presentation showing direct side to side views with each lens at the different apertures.

They all seem pretty close though. I might give a slight nod to the 58/1.2 Rokkor and the old Pentax Super-Tak...
