These images are from the same trip back in January to Yosemite.
I absolutely love sending New Years there.

I believe the first was shot with a Zeiss Loxia 21/2.8 and the second with a Zeiss 28/2 ZF. Not physical ND filers for both. Just used Sony's in-camera averaging SR app.

I hope you like them!
Best,
Fred

Hello Fred, Yes I like them both!!
Such a dreamy river, indeed!
Wonder how I would feel there spending the New Years Days!
Q: How does that "Sony's in-camera averaging SR app" work?

Both wonderful images, Fred, but the first I like best. Has a very peaceful feel to it.

Both are beautiful. I like #2 the most for the texture of the water, detail of the snowy trees and rocks, and finally, the warm light peeking through the background. Very composition.

Thanks Kee, it's definitely quite an experience and I highly recommend it.
Regarding the SR app: It takes a number of successive images (example: 8 or 16) and combines them in-camera (averaging). The result is improved SNR and a ND effect.
Best,
Fred

Two is special to me because I was there with my 13-year-old and see also took similar images. We had a blast together!

Thanks Matt,
I usually stay at the Yosemite Lodge. You can beat that location. There are many shooting opportunities at walking distance.
Take care,
Fred

Both are terrific, thanks for sharing. I haven't been this winter, should head down there while there is still some snow.

Hey Fred,

Nice work here, I really like #2 a lot. Its nice to be able to do that in camera, I did something similar when I was recently in Yosemite, though I still used an ND filter to get a 30 sec exposure, and then stacked 10 images that were taken continuously back in Photoshop to create the look of a 5 min exposure. It turned out pretty cool.
