Poor man's Malayan Horned Frog - Perak Spadefoot Frog / Perak Horned Toad (Xenophrys aceras). He/she doesn't look too happy to see me. Highlands of Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia. We also meet the other poor man's horned frog, i.e Xenophrys longipes.

Wonderful critter you come across while looking for snakes! Adult female Orchid Mantis (Hymenopus coronatus). Definitely one of the most well known and most beautiful species in the world. Peninsular Malaysia.

Cute little juvenile White-spotted Cat Snake (Boiga drapiezii) spotted by John about a month ago, Selangor, Peninsular Malaysia.

Lovely, not-so-little, not-so-cooperative python that John and I found a few weeks ago, Peninsular Malaysia.

Cute little neonate Butler's Wolf Snake (Lycodon butleri) that put up a brave front and made a few strikes! <3, highlands of Pahang, Peninsular Malaysia.

Kurt,

That python is quite a visual puzzle. I didn't see its head at all in my first viewing.

Amazing shots. Isn't this a dangerous activity?

I'm curious - do you shoot these critters at night?

I love that toad Kurt ! So full of attitude just by his "look" and that Pit Viper is a great shot too.

Pretty sure he does most of his shooting at night these days Archibald iirc from what Kurt has mentioned here, on his blog and on his FB posts (sounds like I'm stalking him !).

I went on a night walk in Nicaragua when we were there recently, and it was amazing the critters that were around then. I had not realized. A night and day difference. Now I'm much aware of the opportunities of nighttime shooting.

Time to go out and buy a headlamp.
