Are there other companies or alternative that provide similar tools for tabletop photography lighting control other than Matthews Microgrip? Here is a sample what it looks like. http://www.filmtools.com/filmtools-exclusives/grip-electrical/filmtools-table-top-scrim-kit.html

How do you make a single/double net out of foamcore I'd suggest a fabric store for black/white bobinett as well as various silks Many times just setting a small block of wood on the table will do a good job of blocking a low-angle light.

I normally make do with welding rod, black paper/foamcore and gaffer tape (well, and a manfrotto magic arm/clamps a/r to position the result). I don't seem to need to use something like a net much anymore, but I suppose you can just make a loop of wire to hold whatever kind of fabric you need in whatever shape you want...

Best,

I have been at this a while and always made my own tiny flags, diffusers etc. out of stripped solid copper electric wire and diffusion or ND gel held by a Manfrotto articulated arm. No need to spend money on OEM versions that may or may not meet your needs.

Also, keep in mind, thick bands that frame the diffuser can show up on your product or background.

During the final exam in medical school, we were given a ball of twine, a razor blade, and a bottle of whiskey. We had to remove our own appendix.
