I caught this big guy two days in a row, on the second day he wasn't moving as well due to the snow.

I don't move very well in the snow any more either.

Very nice! I enjoy the first one for the good detail and the presence from the closeup view of this magnificent creature. The second has a completely different artistic feel and appeal that really resonates.

Great captures Louie. That second one really shows the struggle of nature against the environment in which they live.

Thanks Ron. Well I don't move very well in 5 feet snow drifts either, luckily I was in my truck when I took that second shot.

Very cool and I imagine a bit daunting for the elk to try to navigate in snow that deep....hopefully you had snow shoes or you'd be up to your own neck in the white stuff. I wonder if these guys are more vulnerable to predators when they can exactly bolt off.

Thanks very much Eric, no snow shoes I was still in my truck when I took the shot where the elk was lying down. They are much more vulnerable to wolves when in deep snow. This particular elk looked like it was OK but I really couldn't really tell because he was up hill from me a bit so I couldn't see his entire body. I don't know if he was stuck or just lying down.
