The raw from the 40/1.2 seems to show a lot of onion rings on the bokeh balls...

And PF in the highlights on his glasses. I know this wasn't focused well, but that wasn't the greatest of shots to evaluate the lens with.

Hopefully they will re-release the 125/2.5 in E mount with CPU contacts

Really wish they had done the 35 1.7 instead of the 35 1.4. The 1.4 is such a character lens that I'd prefer to stick to my 35 2.8 Sony as a small 35. The 40 however seems great, just a little longer than I'm actually interested in. The size of the two is very refreshing though, especially considering the absolutely mamoth DSLR lenses Sigma just announced

I'm very interested in the 40/1.2 - I shoot a lot with 50s but I'm regularly wishing for something just a tiny bit wider.

However I'd finally decided I was going to get the Tech Art Pro and the VM 40/1.4 mount... decisions.

The 40/1.4 renders very similarly to the Voigtlander M mount 35/1.4, which seems to be the basis for the new 35. Not having seen images from the new 40/1.2, my guess is it will have more modern performance and thus different rendering.

One thing that seems to be a constant with the fast CV lenses I've used is a tendency to purple fringe at wider apertures. The comment above seems to imply this may be the case here too...

Not sure it's the best sample . . . it looks a bit glowy at f/1.2. Not necessarily a bad thing but didn't they tout exception performance wide open (from the Japanese translation).

Didn't they show us the 65mm last year? Why won't they just take my money?

Well, Makten, one of us is going to be disappointed because I'm really hoping the 40/1.2 will be optimised for close distances.

I don't see the point with very fast lenses with smoooooth bokeh at close distances. The background will be blurred enough with a slower lens and the OOF circles so large that smoothness doesn't really matter.

------

Edit: This looks very promising, at some sort of medium distance: https://t.co/I1A2YKHlPX

There is an opening for a Loxia 28 f/ 2.X.

That's really the only lens missing in my bag.

Agreed. I also see some purple fringing on the guy's hair. Nothing wild though

yeah I think that one 40mm sample that keeps bouncing around looks awful, but then I have never fallen in love with 40mm (I have tried a dozen times) and I'm also not a fan of most of Voigtlander's "modern" lens' renderings. I like their "character" lenses more.

And you didn't like the Leica Elmarit-R 28/2.8? I had it on the B&S board but then went and shot it again and withdrew the sale. I like it's rendering which I call 'buttery sharp'.

And I, on the other hand, love this 40mm FL as I often find 35 somewhat narrow and 50 too close for much of my shooting in that range. To me, 40mm makes for a better all around, all purpose FL. To each his/her own . . .

You find 35 narrow and 50 is too close? :/
Are you sure you don't find 35 too wide?

Disappointing that no specs, prices, or release dates are available - that says these are a ways off.

I typically like to make my lens purchases early in the year (like now) while I plan for what's going to happen during the summer months.

I just wish them to make them in M mount. After getting used to TAP, there's no going back.
