Please share your images...I'm sure there is a 7D2 image thread but I had no luck searching for it. I often criticize the 7D2 and have been doing so lately in some recent discussions....so I thought I'd make it up to the little guy and post some shots I found in the archives never processed. I will add more later but please share your favourite 7D2 images also...

Nice ones Eric. The camera has some limitations and if you shoot around those limitations then it can produce great images. People should take note of the ISOs I used in my images.

7DII + 300 f/2.8 IS II
Perhaps not one of my best images, but it's fairly typical of what my 7DII was giving me.

Here's a night hunter found only in our islands.... I had to push the 7D II's tiny pixels to ISO 12.8K to get enough exposure from the torch/flashlight.

Philippine Scops-Owl (Otus megalotis, endemic to the Philippines)

Habitat - Forest and forest edge in the lowlands.

Shooting Info - Baroro, Bacnotan, La Union, Philippines, November 29, 2015, EOS 7D MII + EF 400 DO IS II, f/4, 1/250 sec, ISO 12800, manual exposure/flashlight, hand held, near full frame resized to 1500 x 1000.

Excellent exposure job, Pareng Pete. That is a refreshing take that stands out from the usual razor-sharp versions of this pijun.

Pare, your compli(e)ments always make me feel so humble. Thank you.
Incidentally, what is the typical size of that beautiful owl so well photographed in darkness ?
Looks tiny to me ?

As some of you know, I recently toyed with the idea of switching to the D500 in consort with the Nikon 200-500 lens as I'm growing weary of the weight of the 500 prime. While the main issue is/was the lens and not the body, what I had heard about the D500 being so superior to the 7DII in every way also fueled the fire. However, I just read this comment on DPR in a conversation about the 7D2 vs D500:

“I've seen no evidence that high ISO on the D500 is better than the 7DII. I've actually seen evidence that it isn't (images at 3200 and 12800, processed with EXIF stripped: no-one could tell difference between 7DII and D500). FPS is same. Dynamic range at low ISO is bigger on the D500, but not noticeable unless pictures are pushed to awful limits. Moderate to high ISO (above 400), where most 7DII shooters live most of the time, is no different in DR.

The bottom line is that the 7DII already competes really well with the D500, at a lower price. If you go to the expense of switching systems for the marginal improvements in areas that rarely affect actual images, that's your choice, but it's a really silly one. In terms of usability, the 7DII is by far the best camera I've ever used. I'm sure the D500 is fine too.”

So if all that's true, that makes me feel better about staying in Canonland until the 7DIII shows up. Although the lens issue is still smoldering.

I shot this Cooper's Hawk hand-held with the 7DII and 500 f/4 and 1.4 III extender:

I feel like I've been cheating on my 7DII lately now that I've picked up a D500 + 200-500. I shot with both this weekend and realized I really miss the controls of the 7DII.

I don't get much opportunity for these awesome nature shots. I use my 7DII mostly for hockey and racing.

A few from my galleries... Not much of a birder, but I try once in a while. ISO ranges from 1600 to 12800. Sports taken with 70-200 II, birds with Sigma 150-600, all crops, the ducks are a very tight crop.

Of course, it's not all about sports and wildlife. This simple snapshot means more to me than even my favorite wildlife images.
