Judging by the 800L resale prices in US, the situation doesn't appear to be much better there either.
I know a goodly number of wildlife photographers in Southern Ontario, and only three of those guys own 800L, and neither of them is using it very much. One of them switched to 100-400 II because of some back problems, the other two make more extensive use of their 500 I and 600 II. I feel the 800L market in my area is practically dead. The other new long lenses might still be selling a bit here and there.
(By comparison, I know of only one Canadian wildlife photographer who owns Nikkor 800 VR, and he lives in Toronto. Now, Howard Brodsky switched to Nikon from Canon recently, and he might also go for 800VR although I kinda doubt that.)...Show more →
