Hi,

pro 2 user here and my current lens setup consists of 23 F1.4, 35 F2, 55-200. I am considering selling the 23 1.4 and picking up the 23 f2 and 50 f2. The 35 is a gem of a lens and i love it. The 23 1.4 is a fantastic lens but i much prefer the smaller form factor of the smaller f2 primes. For sure keeping the 55-200 but the pro 2 with 23/35/50 f2 primes just seems like a perfect setup when i want to keep things really small. Anyone else considering the same ?

David.

I'm going the same route , I have the 35/23 F2 and preordered the 50. All I need is the new macro once it's released and I think I'm set . I also have the 60 , but I will probably just hang on it anyway , it takes nice photos.

I have lenses in this focal range covered with older versions but I think a small kit of the newer f/2 primes would be awesome for street/travel/walk-around/documentary type shooting. My 18/2 is often on my camera as it's the only lens I have that let's me keep my camera in my coat pocket.

The 27/2.8 is another small handy lens that people often forget about.

Would a 23mm as the one and only lens be a good choice for travel? Mainly landscape and pictures of people.

It's personal preference really. The 23mm lens is FF equivalent to 35mm which is a very useful focal length for a lot of things. I personally traveled to Europe for 2 weeks and China for 2 weeks with only the Fuji x100s, which has the same 23 f/2 lens and I was mostly satisfied. Were there times I wished I had wider? Sure. Were there times I wish I had some more reach? Definitely. But overall I cannot complain because my main goal was 1 camera no lenses and very lightweight, which it was. I think if you are going to travel with only 1 PRIME lens, it should probably be a 24 or 35 equivalent (so a 16 or 23 in Fuji).

Others may prefer a zoom as a single travel lens (eg the 16-55 or 18-55 lenses) as they provide wide to short telephoto options, though you compromise in f/stop and low light abilities.

IMHO 23/35/50 are potentially great (dunno about the 50/2, I had the 35/2), but it feels the spread is too tight. You can actually try it with your current kit, swapping between the 23 & 35...

If I were you and trying to keep things simple, I would go 23 - 50, skipping the 35.
The 18mm to 35mm is a more meaningful switch. Or the 23 to 50.

So I think it would be more of a 14 / 23 / 50 triplet or 18 / 35 / 60 etc.

I'm thinking the same. I currently have the 23/2 and 35/2 and they kind of cover the same bases for me. I'm going to eventually pick up the 50/2 and figure out which to keep, the 23 or 35. I think I'll probably end up with 14, 23, 50. The 23/2 hasn't left my camera since I picked it up. The autofocus is so fast and quiet.

My fav XF is the 27 so far. If it was f/2, and at a similar size (perhaps as big as the XF 18 f/2 and with a aperture ring), I think it could be the real "single lens" for me. f/2.8 is good enough I guess.
