All, I apologize for not responding earlier to the wonderful comments. However, my daughter was home from her overseas job and we had a great time catching up.

Excellent images, Carolyn! A kingfisher as a poser is always great - well captured!
Joshua
Hi Joshua, I usually get one or two shots off before they take off. This one stuck around for multiple images.

Hi sritri, Thanks! My husband is in the same boat as he has never gotten a respectable image of one. Keep trying!

First and last a bit noise yet real nice captures Carolyn. All are good

DOH!
Hi Morris, Yes, you are correct. The sun was streaming in the room during processing and I cropped them too tight and did not see the noise. Also, it looks like the color is off a little. Thanks for the comment.

Wow, good for you! I've rarely seen nice, clean kingfisher poses as these. Interesting behavior and real treasures for your wall!
Thanks for posting.

Hi Kim,
Rarely do I get a chance to see a birds behavior and, if I do, The IQ is not good enough. This, on the other hand, was a very satisfying moment.

Beautiful shots, thanks for sharing.
I live in the South bay, but I've never done any bird photography in Bodega Bay.. Would mind giving a few suggestions about where to look for birds in Bodega Bay?
Hi vbnut, Would be very happy to tell you about our favorite birding place.
Bodega Bay can be divided into 5 areas (1) outer shore --- sandy beach where shore birds are marbled godwits, willets, sanderlings sandpipers, etc. (2) inner shore same birds with brant geese will feed there when the tide recedes. (1) and (2) are located inside Doran Park, which is a county park and they will charge you $7 day use feed. (3) the outer channel just inside the jetty is where surf scooters, eared grebes, some loons and like birds will be. (4) inner harbor: bufflehead ducks, ruddy ducks, brown pelicans, American white pelicans, terns will fish. (5) Bodega head -- rough legged hawks, ferruginous hawks, red tailed hawks and northern harriers will ride the thermos above the head.
On the outer head, black oyster catchers (love to hear them whistle when the sun comes up), 3 different types of cormorants, brown pelicans, black and ruddy turnstones, gulls and more.
The rarest bird was a red knot in breeding coloration. He was in a flock of 200 or so marbled godwits. April 2015.
we have been out there and got skunked but then two days later would be awesome.
Hope this helps,
Carolyn

Well done! I've never been that close to a KF....
Hi Jim,
I have money on him being a juvenile as most juvenile hawks seem to be more curious and will stick around longer than a parent.
Thanks, Carolyn
