p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Dell Monitor will not come out of energy save mode

Last night I plugged the HDMI out of the monitor into my laptop, to rule out monitor issues, no issues, monitor came on immediately. no reports of in energy save mode. I regulary use it with a designated desktop thats where the issue lies

.I took the desktop to the local computer shop to trouble shoot today, nothing wrong, everything performing like it should. . Tech also cleaned inside of case, (it needed it) removed video card, cleaned and reinstalled card. checked power supply that fine also He plugged it into his monitor, computer booted immediately and his monitor workied perfectly As said, everything running correctly in his shop.

Took it home computer booted, but it would not wake up monitor, monitor says in energy mode. It suppose to go into that mode after a period of time when not being used.. You wake it up by clicking on keyboard, or moving mouse.

I goggled this issue this evening , and read many with the same issue, unfortunately no one responded back how they resolved there issue My educated guess, when computer updated, possibly setting became changed, that keeps it in sleep mode.

Will return to shop tomorrow to let them evaluate again, this time I will bring my monitor

Has anyone else experienced this, and what was your resolution.

Thanks for your time.

Does your monitor have a DVI/DVI-D port?

I would try that - I think my Dell is fussy and hates HDMI.

Also, are you running dual monitors - or is the Dell solo?

"Yes it has been using the DVI cable from monitor to desktop for some time, without any issues."

"Tried HDMI out of monitor into my laptop, to test to see if monitor is working, and all is fine, monitored worked . Laptop doesn't have DVI "

Single

Thanks for your input Paul. much appreciated

My sister inlaw assisted me yesterday in hooking back my monitor to desktop, she put the HDMI in wrong HDMI port of desktop, while I was putting the HDMI to the monitor.

Problem solved, HDMI cable was in wrong HDMI port in back of desktop..
