p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · New Epson P5000 Announced

While paging through Luminous Landscape I came upon this article announcing the expected replacement of the Epson 4900:

https://luminous-landscape.com/epson-introduces-surecolor-p5000-professional-17-inch-10-color-inkjet-printer/

The B&H ad:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=p5000&typedValue=&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=

While the outward design hasn't changed too dramatically, It claims to have added recent improvements in its print head technology and newer inks. It looks impressive and judging from the successes Epson has had in producing clog resistant print heads, it may have answered one of the enduring issues the 4900 suffered the most from.

Anyway, I'd be interested in knowing what the everyone's thoughts are on this. One simple observation though - how did this announcement slip by so quietly?

Well, there's this thread:

But of course, I've been on the lookout for the 4900 replacement for some time, I can't really judge how "stealthy" the initial marketing is on this one.

Maybe it's in comparison to the splash the P800 made when it was first introduced.

I suppose it just doesn't elicit the fond memories the 3880 did.
