p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Panamint Dunes

I spent the night camped near these beautiful and harsh dunes the first week in January. There was a nice lull in the wind around sunrise when I shot these on Pan F with Pentax 67 90mm and 55mm. Feedback always welcome.

I just love your 67 shots! Makes me want to get out and carry the beast around again! Thanks!

Heron,
Love the fade-out shots.
I think in #2, a slightly tighter crop to lose that dark piece, upper left, would make this one sing.

Thanks for posting as always.
Your making me feel guilty for the half dozen 4x5 shots I haven't souped yet!

Wow, really been loving all your Pentax 67 work of late. I agree with dswiger on the slight crop of number 2. Number three is my favorite of the bunch, the way the ridge line curves through the frame is awesome.

Thanks, glad you like them. It definitely is a beast, but I seem to make most of my favorite images with it.

Thanks for the feedback Dan, re-posted that one with the suggested edit. Look forward to seeing your 4x5s

Beautiful images. If all goes well, I'll visit Death Valley for a couple days in late February.

Really like the sweeping lines in the first three.
Well done,

How rough is the road out to the dunes? On the map, it appears to be unpaved. We're trying to plan a few DV spots for next month.

These are very nice Heron, I like 2 and 4 the best.

The road is unpaved but is pretty flat and doesn't require a high clearance vehicle. Don't expect to go very fast, it took me about 30 minutes to go the 6 miles to the parking area. The dunes are a 3 mile (one way) hike across the desert from the parking area.
