p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Keywording, meta data on images

Hello - I'm wondering how many of you place this data on your website images. My Photoshelter account has a nice back end where you can place all kinds of data on each image. Is there a best practice for this? So far, I've just been tagging them with copyright and pertinent key words. I'd like to know what others consider important, for SEO, copyright, etc.

Thanks in advance,
Sharon

IPTC metadata is the standard https://iptc.org/standards/photo-metadata/

The problem is that FaceBook, G+ and other social media will strip the info from the photos. G+ does leave the copy-write.

Things covered are things that would be of interest to a news organization. Date, location, photographers name, copy-write holders name, photo caption, etc. Many of these things are also important to all photographers.

Many photo editing software has provisions to imbed the IPTC info.

Thank you - I read somewhere that Google search engines ignore key words now? Not sure if I have that correct. Thanks so much for the link. Will be very helpful. I'm not a techie person!
