p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Trip #2 to Sacramento River National Wildlife Refuge | |
This week I had another chance to go through the Sacramento River National Wildlife Refuge. The birds really cleared out this time, about 95% of the geese and 25% of the ducks left, though they might have flown for one of the other complexes to the south.
I did get some photos of an owl and different raptures, but I'll post those separately. Here are the photos of the ducks I took, but I really spent time trying to balance the ISO so that I could keep the shutter high enough to get sharp photos, while getting photos that are exposed properly. If you saw my first trip there, my ISO was too high and my shutter speed was also too high when it didn't need to be, or vice-versa. It's all a learning game and I've always been a landscape photographer, not a wildlife photographer, so I'm learning the art of taking a moving subject, but I'm also enjoying it.
The only issue this time was that I hadn't expected to end up there and I took my Canon 6D instead of the 5DSR so I was a little concerned that I would lose some resolution during cropping, but I think it turned out okay.
Thanks for looking and comments are welcome.
