Dear fellows,
I own an EOS M3 and have updated DPP 4.2.32 to 4.5.10 to play with M5 files.
The installation procedure was flawless however, during the creation of thumbnails, DPP 4.5 crashes systematically. I was forced to uninstall it and re-install DPP 4.2.32.
I use Win 7 (64 bit).
Do you have any tip to overcome such an annoying situation?
TIA,
Riccardo

how much memory do you have in your system?
16 GB is the minimum I would use to avoid running out

you should be able to use the uninstaller
http://support-sg.canon-asia.com/contents/SG/EN/8201048800.html

you might want to clean Canon out of the regisitry
Hkey local machinesoftware
Hkey current usersoftware
Delete any leftover files in the Canon directrory under program files
reboot
reinstall directly to the latest version on Canon website

I have 8 GB and have no problem with DPP 4.2.32.
Thank you for the suggestions.
I have downloaded DPP 4.5 from Canon Italy website.
Could you please re-spell this sentence:
"Delete any leftover files in crogram filecanon"
Thank you.

I have been running 4.5.10.1 on 2 different Win7 pc's, both with 8 gig ram with no issues (except the actual conversions take about 25 seconds each)

Might be an idea to uninstall and reinstall in a different directory

I don't have such problems on numerous installations. Years ago there were issues with greater than 3400 images back in the 32 bit DPP 3 era.

Sometimes, using Windows System Restore and rolling Windows back to a earlier restore point can fix errors like this.

I tried most of your suggestions but the problem wasn't solved. The software crashes during the creation of the thumbnails. I had to uninstall DPP 4.5 and re-install DPP 4.2.32 anyway.
I do not plan to upgrade to Win 9 in the near future
However, do you think it is possible to have installed both DPPs (4.2 & 4.5) without conflicts? I could try installing DPP 4.5 in another Directory, as suggested by dhphoto.

Right click the DPP desktop icon and choose "troubleshoot compatibility". Try different solutions from there.
It runs perfect for me on two Win7 64 boxes (with out troubleshooting).
