Curious, but how would that work for US residents? Could I purchase one, get the 2 years warranty, and then simply mail across the border if I ever needed service? Is Nikon Canada honoring the warranty for US people? Or would you need a friend in Canada to act as a go between? That D500 is mighty tempting at that price...
Yes sir - that is basically it. Canadian retailers will help you with the process too, in the extremely unlikely event you need to take advantage of the warranty (confirm exact details before buying). It's no different than a Canadian buying it once it's back in Canada - normal Nikon warranty, but 2 years instead of 1.
On top of that, both during the Canadian warranty period or after the warranty period expires, Nikon USA will always work on the body for their normal fee because it is of course not grey market either. So, you've always got options, but lets say you needed something done immediately and you lived right beside one of the Nikon USA facilities, they would happily repair the body for their normal fee as if it were off warranty.
Canadian price conversions are also a good thing to look at before buying used - I wouldn't even consider it unless the USA used price was substantially less than the Canadian price.
