There are many active lek in SE Oregon (March). Of course the obstacles to getting photos (let alone good ones) are substantial, but for those properly prepared and who have time, it can be done.
I can't imagine getting any good photos while with a group, those are usually birders who go to places the grouse tolerate vehicles but at a distance usually too far for photos.
