When I search within a thread for a username, the search engine, apparently, search within messages.

I know I posted at least once in that thread.

MacOS 10.9.5, Firefox 50.1.

This is what I entered.

This is what I got back.

A quick search for your name in all forums finds 15 posts by you, in the last 14 months. You can click on 'My posts' just above the normal banner ad space, and it should show all of your posts, to all threads.

The first screen cap implies (at least that's the way I read it) that it is searching within the "Some 300 AF-S F/4 love" thread for my username. What came back was "Search results.... in Message".

I know I posted at least once in that thread.

(I am not talking about universal all forums search.)

"My posts" will show all of your posts, to all threads.

Btw, it may be irrelevant, but some might find the following useful.

You can also search a site like this one using Google, be entering, for example, the following in Google's search entry field:

lara_ckl site:fredmiranda.com

Doing so, returns "about" 764 results for posts/pages with your username in them, Lara, not all which are necessarily unique pages/posts.

You can also narrow down that list somewhat by adding additional search criteria like an excerpt from the title of a thread to your search terms, e.g.:

site:fredmiranda.com lara_ckl 300 AF-S

Doing so, the topmost serp result becomes:

Some 300 AF-S F/4 love - FM Forums - FredMiranda.com
www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1227020/43
Aug 23, 2014 - 20 posts - ‎3 authors
lara_ckl wrote: Backyard deer. Taken in total darkness, with an AA flashlight for focus assist. I am so impressed with the camera's ability to focus ...

in which your post was quoted on that returned page (page 44 of the thread in question). Your actual post is on page 43 of that thread.

Added: I probably should also mention that usually works well for older pages/posts that search engines have had time to index. Though they're pretty quick at doing so today, there's always a chance newer content won't have been indexed by them yet. There are also ways to help prevent search engines from indexing content, which some sites may have deployed.
