Thank you, K-H . These bears are found in the Outer Banks region of North Carolina, including inside a national wildlife refuge. There are roads in the refuge which you can drive on and look for bears, and some areas which are closed to vehicles but you can hike in. It's a bit more restrictive during waterfowl migration season, but that's also not the prime bear viewing season. The best encounters are on foot when you are closer to the bears and observe their natural behaviors.

Terrific images mitesh, taking advantage of the strength of the Olympus gear.
The Bears must know you by now. Do they always stay in the same area?
Thanks for sharing the images.

A few from this morning's walk.

Just as an aside, I spent a couple of hours yesterday evening in the refuge shooting with the a7rii and FE 100-400. While it is a very nice lens, I won't be keeping it. I found that the E-M1.2 paired with the 40-150 PRO or 300 PRO is just as accurate and perhaps even a bit quicker in S-AF, the image stabilization on the Olympus is a little better, and the ability to focus at close distances without extension tubes and/or extenders results in greater magnification and reduces the need to raise ISO and crop. Just one person's opinion, of course, but this just solidifies my belief that the Olympus gear I have is the best combination of capability and portability for nature and wildlife photography.

Great captures and composition! Is it just my iPhone or are they over-exposed ... especially the first and last shots?

Just a couple shots I liked from a fundraiser walk/race yesterday. This was also the first time I had a chance to use the little tuna at an actual event since I bought it. I noticed that I had all kinds of problems with the C-AF using the little tuna until I turned off face recognition on the E-M1ii.

This little kid seemed to be regretting his, or rather his parents', decision to sign up for the run.

A nearby busker had a great gimmick of having his cat hanging out on his shoulders.

Thanks, Bobby. They might be a bit on the brighter side, but that was intentional as the light was actually kind of low (see EXIF). Exposing as far to the right as possible minimizes noise, which would show up very prominently given the tones present in the backgrounds.

Over-exposing is fine and even recommended as long as the highlights are not clipped - but you should not forget to bring down the exposure in post, as reducing the brightness or exposure in post will not have any effect on the noise.

Superb shots everyone!!

Mitesh, love the bear shots! The macros are also superb and not overexposed at all even on my MacBook Air screen. Exposed for the highlights yes but not overly so, I really like the bright look of them.

Whumber cool shot of the kid, you can see how tired he is! Was your luck with C-AF good enough when you turned of face recognition?

Birdied, as always, superb!

It seemed to be much better once I turned face recognition off but the event was almost over by the time I figured out why I was having so much trouble with C-AF. I'll have to take it out again to get a better feel.
