Not so sure about this one, especially about the tonal range of the trees.
What do you guys think?
And hey, Square Crop! That's gotta be worth something!

This image here is pleasing in its uncluttered simplicity and in its isolation of essentially two colours.

The square crop, however, places the spectral tree nearly dead centre whereas its positioning somewhat left may have provided a more effective composition.

Agree with you about the BG trees. They appear to be stuck in "no-mans-land" between natural and the surreal IR look.

Square crop works nice but the tree looks too centered.
Top right corner the strip of dark sky draws my eyes. Perhaps trim a little off the top and left side and retain the square crop? This would remove the dark strip and nudge the tree closer to the left edge.

There is an odd color shift/change in the water where it changes from blue to umm.. err.. what ever that color is that I can't accurately see and describe. I want to think it's simply the reflection of the IR trees but there is a section that protrudes out into the water and towards the main tree.

On the plus side, I give you extra points for the little treasure waiting to be discovered. I almost missed it but once I saw him I felt like I just got a cool prize out of the Crackerjack box.
I think there are more but I can't tell for sure at this size. I like these types of hidden treasures in an image. So long as they don't draw much attention.

I have a cormorant and an Osprey in my two moon shots recently posted.
You need a magnifying glass to see them though.

I agree about the tree feeling a bit static. Perhaps a simple recrop?

Trees aren't bothering me and the egret () is a nice little extra - good spot, Dave!

Or this maybe even.

I like the full reflection of the tree.
