I know some stallions can be hard to handle, but I think these portraits would be a lot more attractive without the bridle in the way. Also, I'd take some pointers from portrait photographers for humans and use some side key light to emphasize the muscular jawline and perhaps some of the muscular neck of the horse--aspects that are really defining for stallions. Placing a mare or rival stallion nearby could also add the drama of flaring nostrils, lifted head, tensed arched neck, etc. Just suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions.
He is kinda expensive to risk no halter, adding another stud would be a disaster lol.
I didn't use any flash, I just parked him where the sun was bright and the barn was dark behind, but I will try to add some reflectors next time to get more drama and better lines.

I actually like the lighting . I like how it fades to darkness. I prefer the pose in the first shot the best. If it is an option, I would properly clone out the chain and strap that leads the eye out of the frame .

Need to clean his ears... too much dirt showing...
Lots of loose hairs on his forehead, jowls, ears and nose...
also, clip the hair on his lips closer...

Good looking head! and chest!

If possible, perhaps you could fasten the chain on the back loop
on the halter, rather than on the side, after you get him set...
this could help with the focus coming off the lead and chain...
