p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Better adapter needed for Canon 24mm TSE II - suggestions?

I have a Fotga adapter EF to Sony E adapter. After adding some flocking material, the adapter works pretty well...

Biggest issue I have is when using it with 24 and or 90mm TSE lenses, and the "limited" shifting that I can do before extreme vignetting sets in. (Usually about 5mm or so). I think this is caused by the overall thickness of the mount adapter. Any suggestions for adapters that allow for additional shifting without vignetting?

Using with a Sony A7R.

Thanks.

Gordon

Have you tried the Sigma MC-11? IMO, it's the most reliable electronic adapter for the E-mount as far as QC and tolerance goes.

I wasn't aware of it. I will look into it. Does it have a bigger "throat" allowing more shifting without vignetting?

I agree with Fred. I have the Sigma MC-11 (EF) and it works superbly with 17TSE and 24TSE II. No need to flock, and has the full range of movements, plus the electronic coupling for aperture and exif.

Is this the correct adapter for Canon EF mount? I've never heard of a Canon SGV??

Same here, I was quite happy with the TS-E 24 II once I changed to the Metabones IV.

SGV = Sigma Global Vision. So this is saying that it's the adapter to use for your Sigma lenses for Canon (ie yes, it's the right one as the MC-11 is not advertised by Sigma for Canon brand EF lenses)

Interesting, I might have to try it. I have not had issues with the 24TSEII, but the 17TSE gave me fits, the camera kept shutting off and resetting...might have to add the MC-11, I have a 50 ART to use it with too...

I used the metabones with my 17mm and the A7RII with no problems mechanically. However, when shifted, the picture suffered significantly in the corners.

I have never had any issue with the Metabones IV on either 17 TS-E or 24 ii TS-E and an A7s and original A7 (24 and A7 both since sold).

I have also used a couple of other adapters, including a cheap no name as a back up (it stopped working for AF with AF lenses but started working like a Metabones IV with MF lenses.

The Metabones iv has a larger "hole" made specifically for the TS lenses.

I did have problems like this but they disappeared with the latest Metabones firmware upgrade...

Does anybody know how the MC-11 compares to the MB IV (flocked or unflocked)?

I'm using the MB IV flocked with the 24mm TSE II and 45MM TSE and it seems fine but I don't have a 5dsr to test to see exactly what I'm losing with the MBIV + A7R2 combo.

I have a new A7RII and the Metabones IV. I just did some product photography using tilt and played with shift on the 45 TS-E and had no issues. Also did a couple of quick tests using the 24 TS-E mkII and all looked good as well...

^^ I also have a new Canon 5D mkIV and plan on doing a full test against the A7RII using the new 17 and 24 TS-E lenses. Hopefully this weekend...

I use metabones IV model T (pretty important as it has improvements for ts lenses) with ts-e 17 without issues, even at pretty extreme shift.
