p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Props to Gear Test Pet Photos

3 years ago at Thanksgiving we adopted a 10-year-old toothless chihuahua that was a constant source of amusement. When associates would come by the house to drop off jobs, June would jump on their lap(s) and give them constant attention while we do ingests and discuss upcoming work/challanges. That simply became known as "June Time".

We had to put her down last week (cancer in the gut) and in putting together a little framed memorial, it became clear that almost all the memorable photos were from ... you guessed it ... gear tests. Lens comes back from a repair, test it on a pet. A lender to evaluate, test it on a pet. A new body for the bag ... test it on a pet. Kids and other family members get photographed on vacations and significant events but if it wasn't for gear tests I wouldn't have many shots of the pets at all.

Funny how that works out.

Sorry to hear of your loss Lee.
We too had to put down our Hershey this past May after 13 years. I looked at the body of work that was her part and while it was greater than our first, Cocoa, I have made an all out effort to do much more photography with our new doghter, Snickers.

Sorry for your loss man. I know what you mean about gear tests on critters. Our dog has stood in for many, as well as lighting tests whenever I am trying to shoot my daughter. Somehow the dog is more cooperative some days than a toddler.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Sorry about your dog. They really are full blown members of the family.

I do most of my gear testing outdoors.

sorry for your loss, if I had a pet of my own, I guess I would do the same thing and would get better cooperation. my daughter has been my test subject and she doesn't like to cooperate unless the shoot is her idea, which it rarely is. I have resorted to asking other people to model for me as they are more eager.

sorry for your loss!

I know everyone has a different view on animals, but for me they are very much part of our lives and we humans get to become very fond of them.
