p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Issue: Uploading an image : File Size

Hi All,
Just a quick check - Is there a recent change on the maximum file size allowed to upload the photos in forum?
Couple of weeks back I upload an image of 12 MB(link below) and it was allowed, but now its does not allow. Message "The file exceeds the maximum size of 1.4 MB. Please resize your image(s)" is displayed.
Would appreciate any suggestion.

Thanks,

I am checking the size of the photo which i uploaded, it still says 12MB. Is there a way it got auto-compressed while uploading ?? Apologies, just wanted to clarify.

Resize your image before posting. Try 1500 pixels by 1000 pixels at 100 ppi. There is no point posting an image wider than 1500 pixels, nor is there any reason to post at 300 ppi.

FM automatically resizes images over a certain size (in storage bytes, not pixel dimensions). It was about 1 MB, at least until recently. It definitely pays to resize your own images before upload, as Tony mentioned, as the auto-resized images are usually not nearly as good as what you uploaded. I figure the auto-resize process simply re-saves the file with higher jpeg compression.
