Since the Festival of the Cranes is currently happening at Bosque del Apache, we are spending a couple of days further north so we can check out the Bernardo Wildlife Management Area. A quick check late this afternoon found lots of Sandhill Cranes. As sunset neared, we saw hundreds of cranes traveling south in very large flocks. We don't know if they were heading to BdA, but there certainly are lots of cranes in the Rio Grande Valley of central New Mexico now. We'll move down to BdA on Monday.
