p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Small autumn birds

Been shooting for years but only now getting into wildlife shooting. Challenging but fun! Even though these birds are very common, I consider my first outing a success!

When I try to take photos in my dreams I constantly have problems with my camera, always missing the critical shots. The robin pic was the same in real life, lens and camera gave me lots of trouble (the Sigma 150-600 switches move out of place very easily if the lens comes into contact with clothes for instance), but it turned out to be very nice and just sat there long enough for me to fumble and finally get the shot .

Nice clarity, pleasing color tones and fine detail in these. My suggestion would be to avoid composing with the subject centered. Makes the image static because in the viewer's eye and mind don't sense any directional flow.

Thank you! Every now and then I like to put subjects dead center just to break the ROT which I tend to use too much just "automatically". But you're still probably right, they could very well be more interesting that way. I think the Robin one isn't even cropped very much so not much room for editing there.

A beautiful pair of images, the second has such a great look with the light and background.

Those are some great shots. Are you using the Sigma Contemporary or Sport lens?

Thank you! These are with the Contemporary, the Sports would be great to try but I feel handholding would no longer be realistic, with the C it's still very manageable.
