Has it happened to you? Well, be warned... if you don't line up the dots correctly, you can not undo the body cap from your converter.

Bottom line, my gray body cap is stuck on my converter... I can wiggle and rotate it, but I can not get it free.
Has this happened to you? Can you solve the rubix cube for me, as I don't want to ship this to Nikon just to remove a body cap.

thanks to anyone who can help me here!

It has happened to me.

I kept wiggling and twisting and applied some force and it finally came off. I was a bit anxious I could break or bend something.

^ This. Impatient folks can break out the Harley tool kit (lg hammer)
For future ease of removal I put a red dot on the cap where it needs
to line up. Wife's nail polish works well.

Bot good ideas. Also, submerge cap in hot water and then grab with rubber dish glove. After removal, allow both converter (or lens) and cap to dry before putting the cap on or mounting to body.

Ditto. It's worrying but it will come loose if you keep applying the elbow grease and twisting one way and the other.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
While I am not one to whine about such things, I've got to say that this is a bit of a design flaw!
Anyway, I put myself in "zen" mode and devised a plan, as the prior 60 minutes got me nowhere. In the end,I managed to shove a plastic fulcrum in a gap between the cap and the mount. Without applying too much pressure I rotated the cap too and fro and it finally came free.

Today I will test to see if I bent anything important. At this point, nail polish now marks the spot on my cap.

If it happens again you can try the plastic ice things, the one you freeze then put in your lunch or whatever.

It takes a while because plastic is not very dense.

But you hold the TC in your hand (warming it up) and hold the corner of the plastic ice pack against the plastic cap.

If it works, it will contract the cap enough to move it and remove it.

I used this cold contraction technique to get a bent filter off of my old push-pull 80-200 2.8. It had probably been on there and been bent since forever.

My TC caps have gotten stuck once, but not as badly as you described.

what is the rationale on the cause of the stuck cap if not properly aligned?

has never experienced such situation before and hope never will.

The old light grey caps would do that. The new BF-3B darker grey caps don't.
Another nice surprise...when mated to the LF-4 they're snug as a bug when
joined together, with NO rattle. Makes goin' steath a tad bit easier.

It happen to me twice and it is a pain to remove the cap.

The nail polish advice is the best.
