Does anyone know of a reseller who offers a 10 to 20 foot version of this cable? The intent is to shoot a 1Dx Mark II tethered to a MacBook Pro running Lightroom via USN connection.

Many thanks,

John Caldwell

Thanks, Mitesh. But I wasn't articulate in my initial question: I'm not looking to Extend the OEM Canon cable; just looking for a longer version of that cable than the 5 foot OEM version.

If I knew the name of the connector in the 1Dx II body I could be more precise. Do you know what that connector is? The "other" end is USB of course.

Thank you,

John

If one end of the cable is USB, so must the other be...

What you need is a USB3 cable that has the same end as what the camera uses. It's not an uncommon one, though it is a bit more rare than the standard types used by phones (and USB2 Canon cameras).

Or, if that's too much trouble (and it may be!), just grab a USB3 extension cable.

OK, here we go. The camera end is indeed a USB variant, but it's not proprietary to Canon. The connector is described here as "USB-A to Micro-B SuperSpeed USB", meaning the camera end must be "Micro-B". This is a cable that is advertised for both Canon and Nikon use:

Be aware that you may experience problems with any USB cable over 15ft long, and my experience is that the problems are exacerbated with USB3 compared to USB2

Try this approach using active cables:

Click through to find them on Amazon.
